Floor Report

The floor is that part of our environment with which we daily come into contact with for the longest period of time. It is also the element of our living space, whose development we pay the least attention to.

With "The future at your feet" project, our goal is to re-think the concept of the floor entirely and throw the things we rest our assumptions on overboard.

The search is on for the floors of the future.

Gold for "The future at your feet"!

13.12.2011 | On 9th December the entire project team had a reason to be cheerful since our exhibition "The future at your feet" won the gold award in the "Good Design 12" for the fiercely contested Room/Architecture classification.

Vthe prize was awarded by the Deutsche Designer Club (DDC), an initiative praising good things – Good Design as well as Good designers and those who like Good Design. It is the quality of the inter-disciplinary and integrated communication across all design disciplines and design media which is really important to DDC and promoted by it. The DDC itself says, "The aim of this commitment is to show that good design not only has "artistic" value, but also can also raise expectations and that it is an indispensable component of economic success.

The jury, under the chairmanship of Tassilo von Grolman, when awarding the prize in Frankfurt not only praised the exhibition for its architecture but also in terms of its holistic concept. "Here six creative teams have turned taught values upside down, and gone back to basics to work out alternative solutions. The overall concept of the project was created by the agency Dorten from Stuttgart. The architectonic aspects of the exhibition were set up by Büro Münzing 3D Kommunikation, Stuttgart.

The mover and shaker of the exhibition, Dr. Werner Utz, chairman of the board at Uzin Utz AG, is very satisfied indeed with the award. "The prize awarded by the DDC recognised in fine style the committed work of the whole team and is a great success for us. Instead of looking backwards we wanted, on the occasion of our centenary, to risk taking a look forwards into the future in this project and give our industry a boost with new ideas and inputs."
